    Description

Known locally as ''The Museum'', this 1933 winter vacation home was solidly built during the height of the U.S. Depression. Totally renovated down to the studs and roof, it is a theatre stage setting of a 1927 Parisian Art Deco home. Filled with original period chandeliers, furniture and decorations, this unique home features work by Lalique, Schneider, Sabino, and Daum. With items collected from Paris over a ten year period by the owners, designer Javier Echenique transformed doors, windows, and walls with period appropriate colors and wall coverings to mirror the height of the Parisian Art Deco period.Installation by Parisian antique dealer Raphael Fey insured that each of the six chandeliers live up to their original design. Silver pieces from Ilaria in Lima, Peru provide a colonial South American touch to the animal and oriental carpets. The huge living room features original parquet flooring, a 7 1/2 foot grand piano, period velvet covered furniture and curtains highlighting an original glass sculpture by Panamanian artist Isabel de Obaldia. The dining room with a new oak chevron hand laid floor is highlighted by a one of a kind trio of large and small buffets and dining table with olive leaf inlaid inserts built in 1931 in Paris by Michel Doufet. The all Gagineau appliance kitchen is the height of convenience with breakfast counter adjoining the built-in coffee maker with chilled wine rack below. TVs are in both the kitchen and master bedroom. The single master bedroom on the south side of the home looks on to the private sculpture garden and the 40' by 10' free-flight "aviary" housing exotic birds from Africa and South America. The study features a curved desk, dresser and plant stands lovingly renovated prior to arrival in the US. With a single bathroom containing both rainforest shower and a bench with hand wand, plus Toto fixtures, safety and a luxurious bathroom experience is guaranteed.
